On Second Thought…

Musings in music by jazz composer and arranger Steve Owen

Join Steve Owen and bandmates Greg Goebel, Tyler Abbott, and Jason Palmer for an evening of original music inspired by human nature, our shared experiences, and the world we find ourselves in today.

Steve says, “Throughout my life, music has given me a way to express in sound what I can’t always put into words. I’ve always believed the best measure of a song is its ability to move the listener—to make an audience feel something of what the composer was feeling. Words shouldn’t be necessary.

But I thought it might be fun to put that theory to the test.

You’ll hear the music first. Then, before I tell you what was behind each composition—the feelings, ideas, motivations, and stories—I want to hear what you think. What does the song say to you? What do you hear in it? Are we on the same wavelength?

Listen. Make your guess. Then we’ll compare notes. On second thought…maybe words do have a place after all.”

This quartet will perform a 90-minute set followed by an after-show mingle with the artists until 10:00 PM
