Join four of the Pacific Northwest's most accomplished and versatile jazz artists for an evening of inspired music-making. Pianist Dan Davey, Director of Jazz Studies at Mt. Hood Community College, is an acclaimed educator, clinician, and performer whose career has included appearances with artists such as Doc Severinsen, Terell Stafford, and Marcus Printup. Vocalist Sherry Alves brings a warm, expressive style shaped by her love of great songwriters and storytellers. Known for her clear tone and imaginative improvisation, she has captivated audiences throughout the region and is featured on recordings including her debut album You Can Have Him and Cassio Vianna's Letters to Grace: A Song Cycle. On drums, Tyson Stubelek draws from decades of performance and study, including graduate work at the New England Conservatory and collaborations with artists such as Danilo Perez, Esperanza Spalding, Joe Locke, George Colligan, and Darrell Grant. A sought-after performer and educator, Tyson is also an adjunct jazz drum instructor at the University of Portland. Bassist Robert Rodriguez, originally from Fresno, California, has become one of Portland's most in-demand collaborators since relocating in 2017. Rooted in the traditions of Black and Latino music, he has performed with many of the Northwest's leading jazz artists and shared the stage with internationally recognized musicians including Melissa Aldana, Jaleel Shaw, Steve Wilson, Marianne Solivan, and Laila Biali. Together, these distinguished musicians combine deep artistry, exceptional improvisational skill, and a shared love of jazz tradition to create an engaging performance that is both sophisticated and accessible.
