Details: My Fair Lady, Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s charming 1956 musical tale of Eliza Doolittle, a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society, and Professor Henry Higgins, the phonetics professor who believes he can teach her to speak like a proper lady, is guaranteed to capture your heart. Brilliantly adapted from George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady ran 2,717 performances—at that time the longest run in Broadway history—collected six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and went on in its 1964 Warner Brothers version to garner eight Oscars, including Best Picture. Look for favorite tunes including “On the Street Where You Live,” “Get Me to the Church on Time,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and more!

Heidi Turnquist directs with music direction by Robert Ashens, costumes by Anna Björnsdotter and set by Connie Huston. William Mark Hulings, who was Henry Higgins in The Shedd’s 2004 production of the show, returns to create Higgins and Ron Daum, who played Pickering back in 2004 returns as Doolittle. Hannah Rudkin is Eliza, Matthew Leach takes on Pickering, Cari Cramer, Elaine Slatore and Storm Kennedy are, respectively, Mrs. Pearce, Mrs. Higgins and Mrs. Eynsford-Hill. And Esack Grueskin is the hapless Freddy.
