About this event
Want to get outside while giving back to a local natural area? The Nature Conservancy invites you to spread wildflower seeds to help restore habitat at the Willow Creek Preserve in Eugene, Oregon. Willow Creek Preserve's native grasslands, ash woodlands, and ephemeral streams provide one of the best remaining examples of native wet prairie habitats in the southern Willamette Valley.
What are we doing, exactly? Volunteers will spread native seed into ecological burn units to restore and enhance critical habitat for Fender’s blue butterfly. During the event, volunteers will have the opportunity to learn about the endangered Fender’s blue butterfly and TNC’s efforts to conserve the species at Willow Creek and elsewhere. Seeds will be broadcast by hand. This project will include walking up to a mile and a half along burn plots.
Registration is required. Learn more and register at nature.org/oregonvolunteer.
