- ➤ On Thursday, Jan. 22 at 9:00 a.m., Eugene Water and Electric Board recorded a winter peak of 453 megawatts as 20-degree temperatures drove high energy use (natural gas heaters worked overtime). - ➤ 4J middle school is proposing to reduce class periods from seven to six to narrow a $30 million budget gap — a change that may limit arts electives for language immersion and special education students. The board will vote on Feb. 4 and decide if the shift should continue. NBC 16
