ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A study from University of Oregon shows Oregon Cascade forests burned more often than long believed even in wet areas. The researchers' findings aim to improve forest management plans & change local wildfire assumptions. KVAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Protests have continued near the Eugene Federal Building as local groups gathered on Jan. 30 and officials reiterated calls for peaceful demonstrations on Feb. 1. Federal agencies and city police used tear gas and flash bangs during these events while investigations into property damage remain ongoing. KVAL
- ➤ Protests continue outside the Federal Building in downtown Eugene following detentions and the use of pepper balls last Tuesday and tear gas on Friday (officials are monitoring the situation). KVAL
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Today, Restored Connections Peer Center opened a new annex to offer larger meeting spaces for NA & AA to support recovery, though recent budget cuts have reduced funding by about 74%, leaving the center to rely on local backing for its expanded services. KEZI
