- ➤ The University of Oregon is beginning new housing developments that will add between 100 and 500 beds near campus with a summer 2027 completion, causing parking shortfalls and congestion that local business owners say hurt customer access & sales. - ➤ Authorities are searching for 16-year-old Michael M. Newton, missing from Eugene since Feb. 3, who is believed to be with his mother or her partner in Cottage Grove, Mapleton, or Florence + anyone with information should call 911 or the Oregon Child Abuse Hotline at 1-855-503-7233. KEZI

- ➤ Early Bird tickets for Oregon Country Fair 2026 go on sale Friday as organizers gear up for the event's 57th run in Veneta. The family-friendly fair will feature live entertainment, food, and craft booths from July 10-12 along the Long Tom River. KEZI
- ➤ Eugene’s Icelandic Sheepdog Alfur won second place on the grand stage at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in NYC this week while training to stand properly and run beside his handler, with owner Lucy Nold noting his fondness for fresh chicken. NBC 16
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday night, the 4J school board approved Superintendent Miriam Mickelson’s final phase plan to address a $30 million deficit, which will cut 110 full-time positions by the end of this school year (affected employees will be notified by July 1). The plan also merges Family School with Camas Ridge Community School next year. KEZI
- ➤ The Eugene 4J School District cut funding for girls flag football due to a $30 million budget shortfall, leaving local athletes to fundraise for future participation until the sport may be officially sanctioned. KEZI

- ➤ The Lane County Clerk's Office will hold 32 wedding ceremonies and vow renewals on Feb. 14 between 10 a.m. + 2 p.m. at East 8th Avenue. Couples must register three days in advance; weddings require a $60 license and a $117 ceremony fee. KEZI
