ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Eugene drivers face higher gas costs as prices jumped by 23.6 cents per gallon over the past week to $3.74 on Monday. Local supply constraints due to refinery outages and pipeline disruptions have contributed to the steep rise. KVAL
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students must be up-to-date on vaccines by Wednesday or they will face exclusion from school activities amid rising measles concerns. Local officials (School District 4J) noted that while district rates meet herd immunity, non-medical exemptions have increased. KEZI
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Springfield Utility Board received nearly $10 million from Oregon’s Safe Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund to build a new water source with an intake pump station on the McKenzie River at the Thurston Well field. - ➤ A proposed ballot initiative aims to raise roughly $15 million for clean energy projects by charging billion-dollar companies a 2% fee on local earnings—set to begin in 2029 with exemptions for grocery and medical providers.
