- ➤ Animal lovers can adopt pets at an event hosted by Greenhill Humane Society today at RV Outlet from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (this partnership offers a chance to meet adoptable animals). KVAL
- ➤ Food for Lane County has launched its community hunger survey to gather local input on food insecurity in Eugene. The survey remains open until April 15 (with a chance to win $20 grocery gift cards) and will help shape future food assistance programs in partnership with the University of Oregon. KEZI
- ➤ Armitage dog park will close starting the week of March 9 for safety upgrades funded by the 2022 Lane County Parks Levy — the project will add a new RV entrance and covered pavilions — and is set to reopen by the end of May. KVAL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin a five-day water release at Cougar Dam to support fish habitats & promote side channel flows on South Fork McKenzie River. Users are advised to exercise caution as higher water levels may lead to minor flooding in low-lying areas. KEZI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Bureau of Land Management is inviting public feedback on its plan to raise timber production on 2.5 million acres across 18 counties including Lane county. Comments can be submitted via email, website, or mail until March 23 to shape the plan. NBC 16
- ➤ Oregon now offers a free Direct File Oregon program that helps taxpayers file state returns faster + provides public access at regional offices, including Eugene’s 1600 Valley River Drive location. While e-filed refunds were issued in mid-February, paper-file returns will be processed in late March. KVAL
