- ➤ Lane Transit District is asking locals to give a thumbs up to bus operators on Transit Employee Appreciation Day on Wednesday, March 18. Bus drivers serve many routes around the region (covering nearly 1,300 stops) as they help keep the community connected. KVAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Oregon Legislature passed HB 4144 to require battery manufacturers to fund and manage a statewide battery recycling program beginning in 2029. The law also bans batteries from being thrown in the trash — a measure designed to reduce fire risks at waste facilities. NBC 16
- ➤ David Loveall is running for reelection on the Lane County Board of Commissioners in Springfield and faces a challenge from Springfield Mayor Sean VanGordon in the May 19 election. Loveall leads in fundraising having raised over 84,000 dollars compared to VanGordon's 43,790 dollars, so the race may come down to advertising dollars. Eugene Weekly

- ➤ The FDA recalled oysters and clams from Drayton Harbor, harvested between Feb. 13 and March 3, due to possible norovirus contamination.
