  • Today, more than 3,000 No Kings demonstrations will occur in cities across Southwestern Oregon (including Eugene, Corvallis, and Albany) as local businesses prepare for extra foot traffic and organizers urge that the gatherings remain peaceful.  KEZI
  • A Springfield woman (Kelly Martinez) regained her independence after two local agencies helped her adapt an accessible vehicle with hand controls; she drove again early this year using grant funds from the newly reorganized Blanche Fischer Foundation and is set to start a new job on Monday.  KVAL

  • Demolition of the old PeaceHealth University District building on Alder Street is impacting local businesses ahead of a 263-unit student apartment complex development. Business owner Sai Pituk of Cluckin' Dog faces lost parking and revenue as traffic rerouting forces pedestrians and cyclists to share lanes.  KEZI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kidsports in Eugene is accepting registrations for six themed four-day summer camps that include activities like yoga, dance and water hockey. The camps begin June 22 and spots are limited.  KEZI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lane County and Springfield planning commissioners recommended on March 17 amendments that let EWEB (the local utility) build a second water treatment plant along the west bank of the Willamette in Glenwood, and the agency will begin designing the project to improve water resilience for residents.  KEZI
