- ➤ A disorderly man with a knife named Matthew Anthony Marks was arrested Tuesday before 3:15 a.m. at the 7-Eleven at 1107 S. Bertelsen Road for robbery and unlawful use of a weapon—police said he struggled briefly with officers before they took him to Lane County Jail. KVAL
- ➤ Lane County Sheriff's deputies responded at 3:30 a.m. to a shooting on the 25800 block of Sundown Drive east of Crow and found a travel trailer victim with significant injuries from a self-defense less lethal pistol, and they arrested 26-year-old Morgan Dakoda Barnum of Eugene on charges of assault in the 4th degree, unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing. - ➤ Police arrested 43-year-old Matthew Anthony Marks after a struggle at a 7-Eleven on South Bertelsen Road when he allegedly took a lighter without paying and brandished a knife at about 3:11 a.m. on April 1—charges include first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. - ➤ Students, staff and families at Camas Ridge Community School completed a walk audit Wednesday to check student safety during dismissal. City transportation planners said the audit is the first step in making a safety plan along 30th Avenue and that funds will be sought for construction work—further changes will help make school travel safer. - ➤ Yesterday, the Eugene 4J School District board confirmed Dr. Miriam Miralles Mickelson as the new superintendent after a months-long national search—her appointment is pending contract negotiations. Interim superintendent Colt Gill said she brings the skills needed to lead the district amid low enrollment and an ongoing lawsuit over federal diversity mandates. NBC 16

- ➤ The University of Oregon said it learned on March 28 that the DHS terminated an international student's F‑1 visa record for unspecified criminal charges and that the student has 15 days to leave (unless they have another legal pathway). About 100 protesters gathered on the steps of Johnson Hall to protest the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil (a Syrian‑born activist now held in Louisiana) as concerns over immigration enforcement rise. KVAL
