- ➤ Food for Lane County hosts a spring plant sale today from 10 a.m. & 4 p.m. at the Youth Farm on Seavey Loop Road near Mount Pisgah; hourly tours starting at 11 a.m. will highlight plant starts including tomatoes, lettuce, peas, and herbs while raising funds for youth guidance programs. KLCC
- ➤ This Easter weekend, communities across western Oregon host egg hunts for families. In Springfield, a hunt runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lively Park and in Roseburg, a fire truck egg drop starts at 9 a.m.; Walterville, Philomath, Albany, Sisters, North Bend & Lincoln City offer kid-friendly events. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A grease fire at Gotcha Burger’s food cart on West 7th Avenue last Thursday night caused damage with no injuries as an open-flame menu item led flames to reach the cart’s walls, and the truck remains open for customers. KEZI
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A free reception opens today at City Hall Gallery & offers community members a renewed view of selections from the 2026 Mayor’s Art Show, previously shown at Hult. The event invites locals to enjoy a curated display of local art. NBC 16
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lane Education Service District named Dr. Tenneal Wetherell as its new superintendent and she will begin her role on July 1 (she brings over 25 years of K-12 experience including her service as deputy director of operations with the Department of Education). KLCC
- ➤ Bushnell University is launching new undergraduate and graduate programs in finance, public health, artificial intelligence and business this fall. The curriculum, developed with Rize Education and leading tech companies (Google, Meta, Amazon and Microsoft), prepares students for careers in rapidly growing fields. KEZI
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On April 3, tree trunks and debris blocked parts of the upper McKenzie River at Highway 126 E milepost 55 near Fish Rock — one blockage appears passable while the center fork may be unsafe; Lane County Sheriff's Marine Patrol and other groups are working to clear the obstruction as officials advise caution. - ➤ Health officials report that new OHA data shows prescriptions under the Death with Dignity Act rose 5% in 2025 (from 609 to 637). They say many older adults with serious illnesses use the law to keep control and dignity as the trend continues steadily. KVAL
- ➤ Data from OHA show that prescriptions for life-ending medication under the Death with Dignity Act increased by 5 percent to 637 in 2025; terminally ill adults most often cited loss of autonomy and dignity, and officials expect more completed death certificates as reporting is finalized. NBC 16
