- ➤ Federal officials proposed creating a new U.S. Wildland Fire Service to unite wildfire response efforts across multiple agencies and manage more than 693 million acres and 15,000 personnel. - ➤ Eugene has selected Ideal Option to manage the new Peer Navigation Pilot Program, which will fill gaps like welfare checks and non-emergency transport. - ➤ Recent warm, dry weather raised tree pollen counts in Eugene to very high levels over Easter weekend, with oak, cottonwood, alder and Douglas fir dispersing pollen, said Dr. Kraig Jacobson (Oregon Allergy Associates), noting that local childhood exposure may increase sensitivities while grass pollen will rise in May.
