- ➤ Shift Community Cycles hosts a Free Bikes 4 Kidz donation drive Saturday, April 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Eugene (811 W. 6th Ave. and 190 W. 8th Ave.) to collect bikes to donate to kids and adults, aiming for 600 bikes in 2026. KEZI
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ About 30 residents attended the Veneta Planning Commission meeting at City Hall to challenge plans for a development near Jeans Road and Territorial that could worsen traffic and duplicate existing services. City Administrator Matt Michel said developers will revisit questions raised (including traffic concerns) as planning continues. KEZI
- ➤ On Monday, April 6, Eugene announced its selection of Ideal Option to pilot a peer navigation program that will fill gaps in non-emergency services formerly provided by CAHOOTS. The outreach workers will start within two months at targeted locations such as the Whiteaker and Highway 99. KLCC
- ➤ Lane County has extended temporary RV dwelling permits for 2020 fire survivors through September 5, 2030 — replacing the original plan expiring in 2025. The decision followed a successful petition to the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development. KVAL
- ➤ Eugene Airport is using $6.24 million in federal funds to expand + update Concourse A to handle larger jets. Crews have begun work on the 9,893+sqft addition that will upgrade HVAC, mechanical, and ADA accessibility features, with completion expected within 12-18 months. KLCC
