- ➤ The Eugene Family YMCA is expanding programs to ease loneliness after hosting a Mix and Meet event in February. The effort will use public spaces to offer group fitness + social programs for assisted living residents and others in south Eugene. KEZI
- ➤ Local groups in the McKenzie River Region are rebuilding nearly six years after the Holiday Farm Fire destroyed homes and trees. Volunteers have built affordable housing and community centers and are planning a main street project to boost tourism (including a new fire station and library). NBC 16
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Eugene Springfield Fire responded on Wed, Apr. 8 to smoke at Marche Restaurant at the 5th Street Market when a malfunctioning rooftop HVAC sent smoke into the dining area, and crews isolated power and cleared the smoke with ventilation fans before returning the building to staff. KVAL

- ➤ At the first budget committee meeting held Wednesday evening, Superintendent Miriam Mickelson outlined one-time fixes for a $50 million shortfall that include selling the Wells Fargo property for about $2.9 million, moving up to $10 million to the general fund, and warned of potential layoffs + a school closure.
