  • This week, Central Lane Communications honors 911 dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week — local police and fire chiefs praise their role as the first point of contact in emergencies. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • According to the City of Eugene’s 2025 Fatal Crash Report, 10 people died in traffic crashes—a 55% drop from 22 in 2024—with all fatalities on arterial streets and many involving drugs or alcohol; Mayor Kaarin Knudson said the city will keep funding safety projects until it reaches its Vision Zero goal.  NBC 16

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local school districts said longer school days might help students but will raise costs and miss addressing chronic absenteeism following Governor Tina Kotek’s order. Districts have 90 days to send a plan to restore instructional time to the Oregon Department of Education.  NBC 16
