EDUCATION NEWS

  • 4J School District will remove Native American totem poles from several Eugene schools, including North Eugene High School, Spencer Butte Middle School, Madison Middle School, the 4J Education Center auditorium and Bailey Hill School, after local tribal members said the poles misrepresent their heritage. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Oregon wildlife officials counted 204 gray wolves in December, a 15% rise that marked a total not seen in eight decades—offering hope for the species while breeding pairs increased west of the Cascades and fell in Eastern Oregon.
