- ➤ SASS is a nonprofit that helps survivors of sexual assault and now faces possible federal funding cuts that may reduce its youth programs inspired by volunteer Jane Brinkley. - ➤ Eugene Police Department responded to a tense standoff at Oak St and 11th Ave yesterday when a 43-year-old man was reported suicidal and armed inside a bathroom — he complied with police directions and was taken into custody on disorderly conduct charges. NBC 16
- ➤ A Springfield woman (Melisa Jaragosky, 41) is facing 35 charges including aggravated identity theft, first-degree theft, and first-degree forgery after allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from mechanical contractor Harvey and Price over nearly six years, court records show. KEZI
- ➤ A pedestrian died on Wednesday morning when a driver lost control and struck them on the Amazon bike path in Eugene—police said the driver later crashed into a tree and was taken to a local hospital. KLCC
- ➤ On April 22, police said a Eugene man was arrested for disorderly conduct and telephonic harassment after he fought with a security guard and a bystander when a shot was fired — Michael Allen Gutierrez was tracked down several blocks away, treated for minor injuries, and taken to jail. KEZI
- ➤ On Saturday, April 19, Springfield PD partnered with loss prevention staff from area retailers to arrest 19 suspects for retail theft—recovering more than 250 items worth nearly $3,000 that were later returned to their owners. NBC 16
- ➤ The Eugene Police Department responded to a report of gunfire in an apartment parking lot on April 22 at 8:22 p.m. when a property dispute between 36-year-old Michael Allen Gutierrez and a tenant led to a fight involving a security guard and a bystander—police later found Gutierrez several blocks away, treated him for a non-life-threatening injury, and took him to Lane County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct and telephonic harassment.
