- ➤ Bags of Love, a nonprofit caring for children in crisis, is asking for donations of summer pajamas, underwear, shoes and quilts ahead of the season. Donations can be dropped off at Delta Oaks Shopping Center or given online through their Amazon wish list. KEZI
- ➤ Reality Kitchen hosted Cafe Day Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at its River Road location, where new employees built barista skills and lasting friendships. The nonprofit offers supportive work paths for people with disabilities — a fresh start for many. KEZI
- ➤ Three local animal organizations are hosting 'The Big Fix' on June 6 in Springfield to offer pay-what-you-can spay and neuter services for cats. The event provides 100 appointment slots—only a quarter of which are filled so far—and seeks sponsors and community partners. KEZI
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Oregon State University freshman pitcher, injured in an auto accident on April 13 (suffering a traumatic brain injury and spinal bleeding), was released from the hospital and moved to inpatient rehab in Eugene. KVAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Protesters gathered outside the federal building in downtown Eugene yesterday afternoon after federal officials unveiled plans for a security fence—city funds will cover a $20,000 sidewalk project to maintain pedestrian access while critics express concerns. KVAL
- ➤ Central Lane 911 reported a CAD system outage that led officials to ask the public to limit calls to emergencies. Dispatchers are logging entries manually as 911 & non-emergency phone lines remain active, with no timeline for system restoration. KVAL
- ➤ Lane County is ending its 20-year partnership with Riverview Center for Growth (ending today) to bring youth mobile crisis services in-house after state funding constraints. The county will hire staff and cross train responders so all crisis calls are managed while Riverview keeps offering outpatient mental health care. NBC 16
