- ➤ Detectives with the Eugene Police Department arrested 55-year-old Raymond Joseph Janczyk on April 23 at a West Eugene residence after linking him to multiple business and food cart burglaries — he now faces multiple charges including nine counts of burglary and additional theft offenses. NBC 16
- ➤ A 20-year-old Washington man was arrested on May 1 for allegedly threatening restaurant employees with a machete at Jade Dumpling and Noodle House on Willamette Street after an argument over merchandise involving his wife escalated—police said he now faces a menacing charge while one employee received a citation for first-degree theft. - ➤ The University of Oregon said that student protests by the UOSW have disrupted three campus events by blocking exits, exceeding safety limits, and intimidating participants. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Eugene’s budget committee met on May 1 to discuss $11.5 million in cuts that may close Sheldon Community Center and Amazon Pool by fall - the proposal also reduces library hours and ends the city’s animal shelter contract with Greenhill Humane Society.
