COMMUNITY NEWS

  • DanceAbility International, a nonprofit in Eugene, held an inclusive performance at Farmer’s Market Pavilion last Friday where dancer Kelcie Laube, who improved her ability to stand after physical therapy, led a call and response routine with fellow dancers. The nonprofit will host a 10-week intensive workshop at Hilyard Community Center in September—offering more people a chance to learn its accessible dance method.  KLCC

CRIME NEWS

  • Police said they are asking for help to identify a suspect who vandalized City Hall by throwing rocks in late April and early May, causing about $10,000 in damage and prompting the placement of a camera trailer—if you recognize the suspect, call Detective Shawn Trotter.  KVAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Eugene approved a redesign of East 24th Avenue—removing parking to add widened, protected bike lanes after months of public input and technical review. A final community meeting will be held on May 13 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Roosevelt Middle School, and residents may appeal the parking removal until 5 p.m. on May 30.  City of Eugene
