- ➤ Eugene will open its 2025 Community Survey on July 7, inviting residents to share their views online and by mail—responses that will guide future city planning. The survey, run with ETC Institute to ensure a diverse sample, will be available for about two weeks. City of Eugene

- ➤ Arcimoto, an electric vehicle manufacturer in Eugene, has downsized amid financial turmoil that pushed its share price to a hundredth of a cent—enthusiasts say the current stock of proprietary parts may last another year, though owners might soon need to modify their chargers. - ➤ A 51-year-old man was arrested after losing control of his car on the 2500 block of Amazon Parkway on April 23, striking 79-year-old Sharon Schuman while she was jogging and now faces charges of second-degree manslaughter and DUII (he was arrested Thursday and remains in custody). KVAL

- ➤ A Eugene nonprofit called #instaballet invited community members to join a dance event at Capitello Wines on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. — part of the First Friday ArtWalk. The completed dance will premiere on June 28 at the Hult Center at 11 a.m. — it is part of the free family concert during the Oregon Bach Festival. KLCC
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oregon’s Recycling Modernization Act, passed in 2021, will take effect on July 1—when residents can recycle yogurt containers, margarine tubs, milk cartons, soup boxes, twist-cap plastics, and buckets from transfer stations. Smaller communities without curbside pickup will receive funding to buy equipment so they can offer home recycling later. KLCC

- ➤ Two Eugene women—Jewel Nelson and Judith Smith—led efforts that resulted in a new law giving families the right to form independent councils at memory care facilities, which Gov. Kotek signed on May 28. The law was designed to help families have a stronger voice for loved ones who cannot advocate for themselves. KLCC
