- ➤ Early Monday morning, a two-vehicle crash closed both northbound lanes of Highway 99 at Roosevelt Boulevard when a speeding 19-year-old driver in a Lexus RX slid into a Dodge Ram, flipped multiple times, and was taken to a hospital for injuries—police said the Dodge driver was unharmed and the Lexus driver was cited for careless driving. - ➤ Eugene Springfield Fire responded to several incidents on Monday, June 16, including a brush fire on Vera Drive, smoke in a laundry room at Gateway Village Apartments, a fast-moving grass fire on Main Street, a mobile home blaze on N Danebo Avenue with suspected fireworks, a shed fire on J Street from a lawnmower mishap, and a fire at Safeway that began in a dumpster—officials said no injuries were reported—and investigations are ongoing. - ➤ A Eugene man, 33-year-old Kielan Robert Eugene Fitzsimonds, was charged with breaking a DHS vehicle's window and denting its trunk and hood by throwing rocks at it on June 8 at a federal building and was ordered detained after a June 16 court appearance. NBC 16
- ➤ Eugene Police are asking the public to help locate 83-year-old Rosiland Lund, who has dementia and was last seen driving her 2005 Toyota Highlander on Roosevelt Boulevard and Highway 99 at 11:00 p.m. on June 16th (she is described as 5'6" tall, weighing 220 pounds and wearing a red polo shirt, jeans, and Hoka shoes). - ➤ Former Eugene Weekly manager Elisha Young was arrested in Ohio on June 13 for allegedly embezzling over $100-thousand from the newspaper—she was indicted on multiple counts of aggravated theft and first-degree theft after a Eugene Police financial crimes detective investigated the case. KVAL
