- ➤ On July 15th the Eugene Springfield Fire water rescue team saved seven people from two separate river incidents, rescuing five individuals trapped under a bridge on the McKenzie River near Armitage just after 6:00 p.m. and later assisting an elderly person and another from a raft issue on the Willamette River between Clearwater and the Coast Fork confluence just after 8:00 p.m. KVAL
- ➤ Today, as temperatures near triple digits across the Willamette Valley, Eugene Springfield Fire warns that rivers like the Willamette and McKenzie are dangerous for swimming without proper life vests—hidden hazards and cold water can quickly cause muscle cramps and disorientation. NBC 16

- ➤ Today, the City of Eugene unveiled its Urban Forest Action Plan to boost the tree canopy from 24% to 30% by 2040 by planting 214,220 trees on public and private land. - ➤ Lane County Emergency Manager Tiffany Brown explained wildfire evacuation levels—Level 1 means 'Be Ready,' Level 2 means 'Be Set,' and Level 3 means 'Go Now'—in an interview with KLCC on July 15th. - ➤ Today the intersection of Chambers and west 11th Avenue is closed for repaving and street improvements that will reduce west 11th to one lane and require drivers on Chambers (northbound drivers turning onto 11th and southbound drivers using Garfield or Polk) to take alternate routes during two phases of work over the next week.
