- ➤ A house fire broke out in Eugene’s Santa Clara neighborhood Monday after 3 p.m.—fire crews quickly contained the flames, found no injuries, and Lane Fire Authority is investigating the incident. NBC 16
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On July 29, Eugene police and City Public Works worked together on Highway 99 to address safety concerns and crimes—targeting pedestrian and vehicle violations, trespassing, and prohibited camping—making 15 arrests, issuing 7 traffic citations, handling a traffic crash, and clearing 40 yards of garbage while reclaiming 20 stolen grocery carts. - ➤ James Paul Richard McNaught was arrested Sunday night for an alleged hate crime after a statue of Abraham Lincoln was found hanging by its neck outside a woman's apartment on the 3000 block of Matt Drive — he is also accused of drawing a pentagram nearby and discarding a bag of trash. KEZI
- ➤ Lane County sheriff's deputies responded early Saturday to a kidnapping report in Veneta and arrested 48-year-old Kristian Anthony Villa on McCutcheon Road after they found his vehicle on Territorial Road with the victim inside — he now faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, fourth-degree assault, menacing, and coercion.
