ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded late Tuesday night to two separate blazes in west Eugene—one at Coastal Farm in the 2200 block of W 6th Ave where wood shavings fueled a brush fire, and another at a business on Bailey Hill Road where firefighters quickly controlled a commercial structure fire with no injuries reported while investigations continue.  NBC 16

CRIME NEWS

  • EPD and LCSO are investigating a shooting near East 30th Ave and Spring Blvd — one person was taken to a local hospital and drones and K9 units are searching the area — and authorities urge the public to avoid the scene.  KVAL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Artist Yvonne Stubbs’ Bloodlines exhibition will open next week at City Hall Gallery with an artist reception on Sept. 12 — the show uses multiple media to tell her family story and will run 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday-Friday until Feb. 6.  NBC 16

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Emigrant Fire burns 26,135 acres 20 miles southeast of Oakridge as a Red Flag Warning remains in effect and firefighters work to reinforce control lines by cutting brush and removing hazard trees. Hot, dry weather is expected through Thursday—fueling strong fire behavior as over 1,000 resources are currently assigned.  KVAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lane Transit District will launch the Downtown Loop pilot program on Sunday, Sept. 7 to replace Route One with a service running every 30 minutes that connects Eugene Station, High Street, the Riverfront, Pearl Street, and 18th Avenue. The two-year initiative — a partnership between LTD and the City of Eugene funded by State Transportation Improvement Funds — will gather community feedback to assess its impact on access to groceries, pharmacies, and essential services.  KEZI
