- ➤ On Wednesday, the Emigrant Fire burned over 30,576 acres southeast of Oakridge and remained 0% contained as crews secured primary control lines and used heavy equipment. Fire officials had forecast gusty winds and thunderstorms on Thursday—factors that led to flare-ups—while 1,182 resources including 7 helicopters, 2 fixed-wing aircraft and 2 drones fought the blaze. - ➤ The Lane County Clerk’s Office in Eugene now offers marriage ceremonies — couples can tie the knot at the Public Service Building on most Fridays, as County Clerk Tommy Gong said. - ➤ A proposal to create a Watersheds Bill of Rights qualified for the ballot next May in Lane County to give natural areas the right to grow, heal, and flourish and to ensure clean water for people.
