ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Tuesday, September 9th, a driver on I-5 hit a crate of screws near Beltline Highway causing debris to scatter and flat tires to occur—emergency crews and ODOT later removed the crate and cleared the thousands of screws as the highway was temporarily shut down.  NBC 16

  • The Oregon Lottery said a winning ticket for the $8.1 million Megabucks jackpot was sold at Alvadore Gas and Store west of Eugene Airport on August 16 and that owners Hukam Sharma and Chandni Sharma earned an $81,000 bonus.  NBC 16
  • The Oregon Lottery announced that a ticket sold at Alvadore Gas Store near the Eugene Airport won $8.1 million from the Megabucks drawing on August 16, and owners Hukam and Chandni Sharma will receive an $81,000 bonus+officials did not identify the winner.  KVAL

CRIME NEWS

  • Lane County Sheriff's deputies arrested 32 year old Jacobi Isiah Jones after a week long search that began following an assault on the 89700 block of Indian Creek Road in Swisshome on August 30 — his vehicle was found on W. 11th in Eugene on September 5 and he was taken to the county jail.  NBC 16

  • Eugene Public Library offers graphic novels and comics for all ages in print and online and holds free events like anime watch parties and comic-cons—letting community members explore new ways to enjoy stories. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fire crews battled the Emigrant Fire, which burned 32,294 acres 20 miles southeast of Oakridge yesterday as lightning, hail, and heavy rain created new hazards. They strengthened containment lines and removed hazard trees — actions that helped slow fire spread — while managing risks from falling trees and slippery ground.  KVAL
