- ➤ Greenhill Humane Society will host a fee-waived adoption event this weekend to help shelter animals find homes—following last month's event that matched 41 animals with families. - ➤ The Eugene Family YMCA is hosting its 4th Annual Welcoming Festival tomorrow from 2 to 5 p.m. as part of Welcoming Week. - ➤ The NWCC report shows that over $465 million has been spent fighting fires in Oregon and Washington this fire season. The report shows that 457,206 acres have burned so far— including the Flat Fire which burned 22,000 acres and is 5% contained. NBC 16
- ➤ Fire crews have increased containment on the Emigrant Fire burning 20 miles southeast of Oakridge after recent rain — using heavy equipment to build backup lines and protect key sites like Indigo Springs Campground — and the blaze has burned 32,294 acres while reaching 21% containment as officials work to safeguard local infrastructure.
