- ➤ Fire officials say the Foley Ridge Fire east of Springfield is 46% contained and crews are using hand tools and equipment along Highway 242 and Foley Ridge Road to control the blaze. Officials also closed several roads, campgrounds and trailheads—urging drivers to slow down as weekend traffic increases. KVAL
- ➤ Officials say that fire activity along Emigrant Fire, burning 20 miles south of Oakridge, remains minimal as temperatures cool and crews patrol and repair containment lines while removing smoldering fuels—efforts that will continue today and through the weekend with forecast rain early next week to help secure the 32,801-acre fire that is 41% contained. - ➤ The Bureau of Land Management will carry out fall burns in Lane County over the next few weeks to restore meadows and lower wildfire risk, with more than 100 acres at the West Eugene Wetlands set to burn. Crews will monitor smoke with weather balloons and air quality sensors—working with the Oregon Department of Forestry and Lane Regional Protection Agency—to keep communities safe. KVAL

- ➤ A new law allows Oregon Lottery winners to keep their names and addresses private if they do not give permission—ending the former practice of making winners public. - ➤ PacificSource said it will drop Medicaid coverage for 90,000 Oregon Health Plan members in Lane County when its contract ends on Jan 1 as it could not agree to new payment terms.
