ECONOMY NEWS

  • GasBuddy reported that average gasoline prices in Oregon fell 6.4 cents to $4.09 per gallon over the past week, but prices remain 47.7 cents higher than a year ago—Eugene prices dropped to $3.97 per gallon, down 3.8 cents from last week.  KVAL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission in partnership with the City of Springfield and the City of Eugene is hosting Clean Water University today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MWMC Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant where over 400 fifth-grade students will learn about water science—covering the water cycle, water treatment and aquatic wildlife.  KVAL
  • Dozens of Lane Community College workers marched through downtown Eugene Saturday afternoon to protest budget cuts and halted programs while demanding contracts that protect employee and student rights. Faculty union president Adrienne Mitchell and local leaders said the administration made decisions without proper board input, which they believe risks reducing community voice in college policy.  KLCC

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Officials reported Monday morning that the Foley Ridge Fire was 79% contained as the final written update was issued and crews completed mop-up work on the shaded fuel break. Crews watched for hotspots while recent rain cooled the area, but warmer, drier weather and gusty winds are expected, with Foley Ridge Road remaining closed — Highway 242 stayed open.  NBC 16

HEALTH NEWS

  • Eugene Police are marking more than 60 vehicles with pink ribbons and allowing officers to wear pink undershirts this October to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a sign of their commitment to early detection and community solidarity.  KEZI

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Today, Homes for Good opened applications at Lazy Days Mobile Home and RV Park for Lane County renters affected by the Holiday Farm Fire—preference goes to those who rented locally, work within 20 miles of the park, and earn no more than 80 percent of the Area Median Income. Rent is $1,000 for a two-bedroom unit and $750 for a one-bedroom unit including utilities, and applications will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis with support from Oregon Housing & Community Services and Lane County.  KEZI
