- ➤ Springfield-based PacificSource laid off about 300 employees, roughly one-sixth of its workforce, with job cuts affecting all levels as a spokesperson confirmed Friday. The insurer said the move was made to manage rising healthcare costs and Medicaid funding challenges, and affected workers will receive severance and career transition support as some positions continue into early next year. - ➤ Oregon K-12 schools will enforce cellphone ban policies by October 31 as required by Governor Tina Kotek’s executive order signed in July that mandates phones be put away from the first to the last bell.
