- ➤ Catholic Community Services of Lane County has seen a surge in food requests due to looming SNAP benefit cuts and a government shutdown—its nearly empty pantry shelves led it to urgently seek food and cash donations, including canned goods, proteins and shelf-stable items. - ➤ The U.S. Forest Service is set to publish a revised draft environmental impact statement next fall to update the Northwest Forest Plan that controls logging on 25 million acres along the Pacific Northwest. - ➤ Federal workers missing paychecks from the ongoing government shutdown can apply for a Congressional Federal Credit Union loan that offers up to $10,000 with a 60-day zero-interest period and a 4% rate after that+ Congresswoman Val Hoyle said the program is open to both furloughed and active workers to help cover bills.
