ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Nov 15, a violent crash in eastern Lane County left 16-year-old Thurston High School athlete Teagan Merritt—a passenger in a legally-stopped Ford Focus—critically injured when a Dodge truck collided with the car at 1:30 p.m. and dragged it over 200 feet into a creek as her friend’s quick actions may have saved her life.  KEZI

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Lane County businesses learned from BRING’s Rethink Business Program that applications for Green Business Grants opened Nov. 17 — the grants offer up to $1,500 for projects that boost sustainability and cut costs, with 26 businesses saving over $28,000 last year.  KEZI

CULTURE NEWS

  • Eugene artist Rodger Deevers has used his art for 45 years to manage his mental illness and auction his work to benefit local non-profits (Lane County). He said his creative process helps him combat dark thoughts and he plans to train guides to support others facing similar challenges.  NBC 16

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Eugene fell by 7.9 cents per gallon over the past week to average $3.44 + they dropped 31.7 cents from a month ago but remain 9 cents above last year.  KVAL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • KLCC's Living Less Unsustainably host John Fischer explained that the Toolbox Project is a tool lending library where members borrow tools for home projects. He said the program uses a sliding scale for donations—no one is turned away even if a contribution is hard to make.  KLCC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Government Ethics Commission dismissed the ethics case against former University of Oregon journalism dean Juan-Carlos Molleda — who resigned this summer after a report flagged high travel spending.  KLCC

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Downtown Eugene’s historic Tiffany Building is on the market for $3.3 million—built in 1902 and renovated after a major fire in 1980. The property sits at the corner of Willamette Street and 8th Avenue, houses 18 apartments and 6,473 square feet of retail space, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  KLCC

  • The Oregon Ducks will travel to Seattle on November 29 to meet the Washington Huskies in a game that will air either on CBS at 12:30 p.m. or NBC at 4:30 p.m.—the final broadcast assignment will be confirmed by November 23.  KVAL
