- ➤ A StopAntisemitism report shows that intensified, coordinated targeting of Jewish students has affected over 140 campuses, with incidents like swastika graffiti reported at the University, which condemned the acts and opened investigations amid safety concerns. KVAL
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The National Weather Service forecasts heavy rain in Eugene with nearly 4 inches expected as two atmospheric rivers raise flood risk and hazardous travel conditions. A flood watch covers several counties from 10:00 a.m. Monday until 4:00 a.m. Friday. KLCC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ ODOT's Speed Zone Review Panel meets today to review lowering the speed limit from 40–45 mph to 35 mph on River Road (a measure prompted by a fatal crash last December) and on U.S. 101 in Coos Bay. Officials urge public comment. KLCC
- ➤ Lane County Sheriff's deputies rescued a missing elderly woman from Kirk Pond on Dec.6 and assisted a mushroom picker plus a person in mental distress over the weekend — the office urged outdoor explorers to report plans, check conditions, and carry offline maps. KEZI

- ➤ A discussion on Oregon health care took place last Monday, Dec. 8 when City Club of Eugene hosted leaders to address Senate Bill 951, Medicaid reform and direct primary care (featuring Dr. Germann, Dr. Jones and Hayden Rooke-Ley). The session aired on KLCC 89.7 FM and was live streamed. KLCC
- ➤ A 2024 Lane County Public Health study found that children as young as sixth graders gambled using phones and video games, with 19% of sixth graders, 25% of eighth graders and 18% of 11th graders engaging in betting—raising parental concerns. KEZI

- ➤ A downtown Eugene building at 45 W. Broadway is for sale at $5,905,769 and houses Metro Cinema and a Wells Fargo branch on long-term leases, along with office, apartment, and restaurant space—an adjacent property is available for a combined $9,240,000. KLCC
- ➤ A private company proposed to build a 317,640 sqft e-commerce facility with parking, fleet storage & stormwater treatment on an 84-acre site in west Eugene near the airport. The building permit is under review while state officials have approved driveway access onto Highway 99E, expecting about 2,600 daily trips. City of Eugene
