- ➤ Lane County announced that seven nonprofits will receive grants to support economic growth projects such as downtown revitalization, childcare + workforce training throughout the county, with programs set to begin in 2026. KVAL
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lane Community College Education Association said the Board has not voted on the proposed $8M budget cut because Oregon Local Budget Law steps are pending — the mitigation plan was deferred until the January meeting. Union president Adirenne Mitchell said the delay allows time for a public hearing. KVAL
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Beyond Toxics launched an interactive pesticide map that shows applications in Oregon forests from 2014 to 2024 using data from the Forestry Electronic Registry Notification System; residents can filter chemical types and methods on the tool’s website. KEZI

- ➤ Former mayor Brian Obie is named 2025 First Citizen by the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce, recognizing over five decades of leadership in business, civic service, and community development. He will be honored at the annual Celebration of Business (Jan. 22 at Graduate Eugene). KVAL

- ➤ Eugene Airport is preparing a concourse expansion to add eight new gates and upgrade terminals because current flight capacity is full.
