- ➤ Toy donations are now collected through Thursday at Les Schwab stores in Eugene (and Springfield) as part of NBC16's Annual Toy Drive that supplies gifts for children in need this Christmas. The drive includes pickups by the Salvation Army, Eugene Mission and Paige Elementary School on Dec. 19. NBC 16
- ➤ Eugene Weekly has published a giving guide that features local nonprofits like Cielo de Amor, Lane County Diaper Bank, and Transition Health which depend on community support through donations and volunteering. - ➤ Local opponents are urging the Oregon Department of State Lands to block a plan that would fill nearly 7 acres of wetlands on Hwy 99 for a large warehouse (possibly linked to Amazon) as officials review the 89-page application; residents have until Jan. 2 to submit comments. Eugene Weekly
- ➤ Strong winds have caused property damage, including fallen fences and disturbed objects, and officials urge residents to clear storm drains to minimize flood risks. A wind advisory remains in effect today with gusts up to 45 mph & a flood watch for the Mapleton area through Friday. KEZI
