About this event
Shedd Theatricals 2026 My Fair Lady Fri Nov 27- Sun Dec 13 7:30 PM Fridays & Saturdays, 3:00 PM Sundays The Shedd Institute, Eugene, OR Perhaps the most popular musical of the 1950s, My Fair Lady came into being only after Hungarian film producer Gabriel Pascal devoted the last two years of his life to finding writers who would adapt George Bernard Shaw's 1913 play Pygmalion into a musical. Rejected by Rodgers and Hammerstein and Noël Coward, Pascal finally turned to the young duo of Frederick Loewe and Alan Jay Lerner. The musical opened on Broadway in March 1956 with Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews in the lead roles and ran 2,717 performances, at that time the longest run in Broadway history. Look for favorite tunes including "On the Street Where You Live"," "Get Me to the Church on Time", “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?", "I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face", "I Could Have Danced All Night", and more! Join us for Dinners At Six before the evening performances and after matinées! Thank you to our sponsors McKenzie River Broadcasting, QSL Print Communications, The Residence Inn, The Eugene Airport, Summit Bank, Obie Companies, and The Eye Center for this production.
