About this event

Studied abroad? Planning to? Wondering how the experience can actually help you in your career? Join us for the Study Abroad Career Panel. Hear directly from UO alumni working across different industries about how employers view study abroad and how students can talk about their international experiences in ways that are meaningful to future employers.

The conversation will center on one important question: If you were hiring someone, how would you want that candidate to explain the value of studying abroad during an interview?

Students will hear perspectives on how to:

• Talk about study abroad in an interview without sounding generic

• Connect an international experience to jobs that are not always internationally focused

• Identify the skills developed abroad that employers value

• Understand the kinds of follow-up questions employers may ask

• Avoid common mistakes when discussing international experiences

• Make the most of time abroad so you return with experiences you can use professionally

Whether you have already studied abroad or are still considering it, this panel will help you think more intentionally about how an international experience can support your future career.

This event is part of International Education Month (IEM) programming. View the full calendar of IEM events here: https://international.uoregon.edu/IEM .
