If you voted on Eugene's , early numbers are in. Preliminary results as of 9:21 p.m. Tuesday put the clean energy fund at 58% yes and 42% no. Those are unofficial, and full results are on the Oregon Secretary of State's website.

The fund would pay for climate and energy projects. The city would decide which businesses count as a "large retailer," a process that could take up to six months, so voters decided before knowing. Walmart, Target and some banks are potential candidates. Supporter Britney Vancitters says Portland, which started a 1% surcharge in 2019, has not seen price increases. Opponents at Stop the Hidden Tax say the costs would show up in prices.

  • Fee: 2% on certain large businesses
  • Applies to: over $1 billion in national gross profits
  • Also needs: over $500,000 in Eugene gross profits
  • Exempt: most groceries, medicines and health care

Most of the fund would go to renewable energy and efficiency
