- ➤ A University of Oregon study shows teens who catch up on sleep during the weekend have a 41% lower risk of depression (as noted by Sleep Lab director Melynda Casement) than those who do not. Researchers recommend eight to 10 hours of sleep to improve mental health. KLCC
- ➤ Lane County health officials warn that a 61 percent drop in flu vaccinations could lead to major outbreaks as a new H3N2 strain spreads and leaves children, seniors and immunocompromised residents at risk. They expect peak flu activity around Jan. 20 and urge residents to get vaccinated. KEZI
