ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A new report shows that Lane County lost 200 jobs from December 2024 to December 2025 while its workforce grew by 885, raising the unemployment rate to 5.2% in a no-hire — no-fire market. The largest losses occurred in education and construction, while health care gained momentum. KLCC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lane County said construction on Crow Road began yesterday (mileposts 1.38 to 8.13 between Ruth Lane and Cougar Lane) and will run weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until June 30, so drivers should obey temporary traffic signs. KVAL
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Amazon’s new package-distribution center near the airport will have an assessed value of about $36 million and is expected to pay roughly $720,000 a year in property taxes (estimates by Bricks and Mortar). That rate is unlikely to substantially boost essential funds for the city and school district budgets. Eugene Weekly
