ECONOMY NEWS

  • GasBuddy data showed that gas prices in Eugene rose by 8 cents to $3.18 per gallon on Monday, with local prices ranging from $2.69 to $3.49. Prices remained 25.2 cents lower than a year ago (reflecting ongoing market trends).  KVAL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Oregon has ended its Japanese beetle eradication program after lawmakers did not approve funding; officials will add two roles & raise nursery fees to help control the pest, which experts say may soon spread and impact local agriculture.  NBC 16
  • UO volunteers planted 150 trees near Frohnmayer Bridge on Saturday as part of a project to plant 455 native trees over the next two years (supported by an Oregon forestry grant); the university will host another planting on Feb. 21.  KEZI

  • Lane Transit District announced new 31-day and 92-day bus passes that activate on first use — offering continuous access and an auto-reload option for riders to avoid lost value available any time this month.  KEZI
