BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local florists in Eugene are preparing for Valentine’s Day with planned price tweaks as spending is expected to reach record levels & the Flower Market manager advised that calling your local florist directly can help avoid extra fees from centralized processing.  KEZI

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Taxpayers in Eugene are urged to use Oregon’s tax kiosks to file returns electronically + enjoy refunds two weeks faster than paper filings; the Eugene office at 1600 Valley River Drive, Suite 310 is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with refunds for e-filed returns beginning Feb. 17.  KEZI
  • Springfield Economic Development Agency is holding a meeting for Glenwood residents to discuss the Riverfront Redevelopment Master Plan on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Roaring Rapids Pizza Company (River Room), where food and drinks will be provided.  KVAL
  • Taxpayers can use free computer kiosks at DOR offices in Eugene, Bend, Gresham, Medford & Portland to file personal tax returns electronically for faster refunds and kickers. The kiosks operate on weekdays; e-filed refunds begin Feb. 17 while paper returns will be processed in early April.  KVAL
  • Lane County will absorb youth mobile crisis response services from Riverview (which sent a Jan. 2 letter) amid Medicaid budget cuts, while continuing to support other Riverview programs and shifting crisis intervention to its existing services. The change is set to affect how youth crises are managed going forward.  KVAL

HEALTH NEWS

  • PeaceHealth announced last week that it would let 41 emergency physicians and physician assistants go from contracts at Riverbend and Cottage Grove in favor of out-of-state ApolloMD — a change that local providers oppose. The Oregon Nurses Association is petitioning to restore Eugene Emergency Physicians to keep community care steady.  KVAL
  • Eugene Emergency Physicians has refused to work for Apollo MD after PeaceHealth chose the staffing firm — 41 doctors and physician assistants signed a mutual agreement that will govern their work for at least 90 days after the PeaceHealth contract ends on June 30.  KLCC

SPORTS NEWS

  • Eugene was chosen to host the 2027 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships and Para National Championships, which will serve as Team USA's qualifier ahead of the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing. Dates and ticket details will be announced soon.  KLCC
