CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The project to unveil a monument honoring Eugene's first Black families reached a milestone on Friday with the reveal of its completed design. The statue will be 3-D scanned in Portland before being bronzed in northwest Eugene and placed in Alton Baker Park in September. KVAL
- ➤ Jodi Unruh revisited Abby's Pizza Friday to capture 2004 Valentine's Day footage of a heart-shaped pizza — a nostalgic piece connecting past celebrations with the community's current spirit. KVAL
- ➤ Researchers from U of Oregon and U of Nevada published a study last week in Science Advances on ice-age artifacts from Cougar Mountain Cave, about two hours southeast of Bend. Among the findings is the oldest sewn hide sample (dating to about 12,400 years ago) that reveals early clothing technology. KVAL

- ➤ Springfield launched a new Community Resources webpage to help residents access local legal aid, know-your-rights details, and service providers in multiple languages. The city says the page comes amid federal immigration activity & will be updated as new resources become available. KVAL
