ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On April 3 at 2:23 a.m., state police responded to a head-on crash on Highway 126 near Florence where a Eugene man—Matthew Jacob Decker—died when his Ford T-350 collided with a white Freightliner semi-truck and a 64-year-old Veneta man suffered minor injuries as crews kept the highway closed for about five hours. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Eugene police arrested a man in his 30s named Deryk Mitchell Johnson on April 2 after he allegedly stabbed a 34 year old Florida man at Skinner Butte Lookout while bystanders aided the victim, and Johnson now faces charges of first degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and second degree criminal mischief—charges linked to both the stabbing and damage he inflicted during his arrest. - ➤ At its April 2 meeting, the Lane Community College Board approved a 3.1% tuition increase for the 2025-26 academic year, raising resident students’ cost from $144.50 to $149 per credit hour effective Summer Term 2025. (The increase aims to cover rising operational costs) (and inflation.) KVAL
