Good morning, Eugene. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 13th of April.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community members gathered outside the federal courthouse today to protest federal immigration enforcement after four University of Oregon students had their visas revoked. Organizers have raised nearly $20,000 for legal support— and the student association has allocated $150,000 to help the affected students.  KEZI
  • Oregon is drought free for the first time since 2019 as recent rain and snow raised water levels in many basins, and UO and OSU had several students’ visas revoked, giving those affected two weeks to leave unless they secure another legal option. Lane County Sheriff deputies seized 10,700 illegal marijuana plants on April 3—while a small plane skidded off a runway on April 7 with five people treated and released, two lionesses had successful cataract surgery at Wildlife Safari, and local Powerball winner Cheng 'Charlie' Saephan, who won $1.3 billion, bought a new home and has been fighting cancer in Portland.  NBC 16

HEALTH NEWS

  • Healthcare workers and families gathered at Alton Baker Park to oppose planned Medicaid cuts that might hurt more than 1.4 million Oregonians who need essential care.
