ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire was contained to one room in Springfield early Sunday morning when Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) crews responded to a report of an air conditioner on fire. There were no injuries, though two adults and four pets were displaced while the cause is under investigation. NBC 16
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Drivers across Oregon paid $5.07 a gallon for regular over the weekend—up 8 cents from last week—with increases seen in Lane, Douglas, and Coos counties. The price data is from Monday, Apr. 27. KVAL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Parts of Hilyard Street in South Eugene between 38th and 40th Avenue closed on Monday for repaving aimed at improving safety and mobility, with roads expected to reopen on May 4 and final work finished by the end of June (residents hope this phase ends years of disruptions). KEZI
- ➤ Pedestrians in downtown Eugene saw a temporary walkway installed on Monday, Apr. 27 near the Federal Building at the southeast corner of 6th Ave and Pearl St. The city repurposed a parking area with concrete barriers and asphalt ramps to maintain safe access for mobility users. KVAL
