  • Food for Lane County will host its Summer Plant Sale today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Youth Farm on Seavey Loop Road, featuring 300+ types of fruits, vegetables, and herbs + live local band performances, while a Saturday food drive collects nonperishable donations to stock shelves.  NBC 16

CULTURE NEWS

  • Covered bridges remain cherished landmarks in Oregon as local photographer Loren Ruark (LSB) showcased their historic charm and ongoing care in a feature on Thursday, May 7.  KVAL
  • The Lane County Fair will host five nights of live music in July with acts spanning country, hip-hop, rock, and reggae. Tickets go on sale June 5 at 9:00 a.m. at the fair’s website & Facebook page.  KVAL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eugene School District 4J informed families that the vendor Canvas (Instructure) reported a nationwide data breach affecting its online learning system; the vendor shut down access to fix the issue, delaying progress reports while district systems remain secure.  KVAL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oregon’s federal delegation called for restoring Forest Service funding and increasing wildfire prevention efforts Thursday night after experts warned wildfire season may start earlier due to low snowpack — lawmakers stressed balanced forest management.  NBC 16

HEALTH NEWS

  • Eugene’s drinking water met all state and federal standards and EWEB maintained its Outstanding Performer rating from OHA, according to its 2025 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR). The utility conducted 85,000 tests and found no contaminants, and it continues a source-to-tap approach to provide safe water.  NBC 16

SPORTS NEWS

  • After student complaints, the Associated Students and Athletic Department updated the football ticket lottery system to give seniors and grad students better odds and set a resale cap of $75. Some students say the change may help curb overpriced ticket sales.  KVAL
